if you want to get ride of those annoying bars on either side of the window in #emacs, setq-default left-fringe-width and right-fringe-width to 0
If you're tired of having a ton of burried image buffers in #emacs when you use q to quit a image buffer, you can change the 'quit-window function to have (quit-restore-window window (if kill 'bury 'kill)) instead of (quit-restore-window window (if kill 'kill 'bury))
to have #emacs automatically run a gif with mpv and have it loop forever add (push '("\\.gif\\'" "mpv --loop") dired-guess-shell-alist-user) to your init file
and then in dired mode press & on the file you want
One neat feature that could be added to #emacs image dired mode would be being able to see thumbnails for webms. Seems easy enough, just add webms to the regex and make the thumbnailer function for the videos be ffmpeg. The problems is that it would require ffmpeg as a dependency and that selecting a good thumbnail would be difficult.
