I'm sub-6', so maybe I wouldn't have as much luck as I think I would. Though, I look pretty decent otherwise.
If height were the only thing keeping someone from dating anyone, you or otherwise, I'd have to question exactly what they're expecting from the relationship. That said, I'm not the most qualified to speak on the matter, but if you're not being exposed to new people, getting new dating prospects is impossible. Online dating is just more risky thanks to people hiding behind the internet.
I think you deleted the @ so I didn't get a notification for this post. For me, height is more of an issue for online dating, where a lot of women have 6' as a cutoff. In real life, I don't usually have issues getting by with my height. Online dating is too quantitative like that. The real problem for me is that I don't get out to places to meet people often enough. I need to find a more public hobby maybe.
@kahasi Actually I tried posting a different way (it obviously went poorly) and then got busy at work.
But I definately agree that people are way more quantitative online. IRL public opportunities would definately be valuable, if you're of the ilk that can do that easily. That said, there's a lot of great meetups in most places even for arcane things. For example, I saw a meetup for C++ programmers recently.
Scouring something like Meetup.com (and bringing a friend for comfort and safety) might be a good idea.
@poorlifechoices Yeah, I'll probably browse something. I've been making an effort to be more outdoorsy, and there are lots of things to do around here under that umbrella. Finding a programming group within a comfortable distance would be difficult.
@kahasi The outdoors stuff can definitely be rewarding, but I've found it really easy to end up 'alone in a crowded room' when doing a lot of outdoor tasks (if that makes any sense.) If you're doing some kind of organized outdoor thing that's probably best. Just going hiking (my poison of choice) is a great way to clear your head, and otherwise pass a dozen people on the trail with nothing more than a quick nod. In any case, I'm rooting for your success!
@poorlifechoices thanks :)
